Pierce’s Honors Program
The Honors Program (or it’s equivalent at other community colleges) can enhance a student’s ability to transfer to a highly selective college like UCLA. But please remember that the program does not guarantee admissions. You will have fill out a separate application to get into the Honors Program.
Steps to applying to Pierce:
1) Complete the application at www.piercecollege.edu
2) Complete the online orientation
3) Complete English and Math Assessment
4) Meet with a counselor at the Student Services Building at Pierce
5) Register for classes- You will receive a registration appointment time after you complete your application.
How high school students can take classes at Pierce
Students need to apply online, take the concurrent enrollment form to the admissions office, and show up on the first day to get an “add” card. The “add” card must be taken back to the admission office at Pierce.
The IGETC is approximately 34-37 CSU/UC transferable semester units. A minimum of 60 CSU/UC transferable semester units is required for transfer. You will need to complete additional coursework in your major and maybe some elective courses. Please see a counselor at Pierce to develop an Educational Plan so you can reach your goals. Please note that colleges have different IGETCs.

UC Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) for students applying to UC
6 UC campuses offer guarantee admissions to students from community colleges. Interested students must meet campus-specific requirements to qualify for a UC TAG. By participating in a TAG program, students can ensure their admission to a specific UC campus.
